Grapell – “Some Places”

Grapell are Sweden’s Emil Erstrand and Nils Nygårdh, a pair of longtime friends and collaborators who make some seriously sexy blue-eyed soul. They have yet to release a debut album, but this fall, they’re following up their first two EPs with another, Love Chamber, and today, they’re sharing a new track from it. “Some Places” is a strong contender for the smoothest thing you’ll hear all year, a shimmering sax-streaked duet featuring Many Voices Speak on guest vocals. “Before, a lot of times we didn’t work on the songs together until the production started,” Grapell say. “But since a while back we’ve gone back to making music the way we first started to when we got to know each other, back in high school ten years ago. You know, by actually playing together. All the other songs on the EP were already done, so we were just playing around really, making sounds we enjoyed. ‘Some Places’ kinda came to us out of nowhere during that moment, and it told us it wanted to be a duet, so we called up Many Voices Speak and did just that.” Listen below.

The Love Chamber EP is out on 9/30 on Roll Call Records. Pre-order it here.
