In case you missed the news last week, Kanye West now has more Top 40 hits than Michael Jackson. With his feature on ScHoolboy Q’s “THat Part,” West charted his 40th Top 40 song, passing Jackson’s 39. Though he’s far from even having the most in rap — Jay Z has 45, Drake has 53, and Lil Wayne has 69 — it’s Kanye, so it’s going to polarize opinions. One fan who expressed her outrage at ‘Ye passing the King of Pop got shut down by Jackson’s daughter, Paris. Paris met the anger with a beautifully gracious statement on how she hopes people will appreciate music, and how she was introduced to 808s And Heartbreak because MJ liked it. There is no comeback to Michael Jackson’s daughter that would have any validity on this subject. It would be so cool if more people could take in music the way she does via learning from MJ.
