Ken Bone’s Favorite Band Is Radiohead

Ken Bone, an undecided St. Louis-area voter who also happens to be a red-sweatered and mustachioed human teddy bear, became an immediate viral sensation when he asked a question at Sunday night’s presidential debate. He’s kept that viral fame going for the past five days, though the world now seems ready for him to go away. Yesterday, Bone did a Reddit AMA session, and he kept his old Reddit username. That let users go back and look at his old posts, which include some enthusiastic words on a board for porn about pregnant women and a months-old tidbit where he said that Trayvon Martin’s killing “was justified.” He doesn’t seem so cute anymore! But before the world learned this disquieting things about the man, he did have a few things to say about music.

When one user asked Bone who his favorite musicians are, he offered up this answer: “Radiohead is my all time favorite, nobody blends genres like Thom Yorke and the boys.” That is some A+ music criticism, Ken Bone! The people who were on Reddit at that moment seemed very, very happy with that answer.

Meanwhile, rap legend Snoop Dogg seems desperate to hang out with Bone, for whatever reason. On Twitter earlier this week, Snoop posted this:

Then Snoop reached out to Bone again during the AMA, writing, “KBone !! When you coming thru tha doggy den 4 a little chit chat ?? I got something special at tha crib for u !” Here is Bone’s beautifully awkward answer:

I’m in LA late next week, maybe we can hook up. Big fan here. My dad wants to roll wit da Dogg big time, you me and him could do some tight stuff.

That didn’t sound cool at all, did it?

And now the Minneapolis City Pages reports that Bone used to be a drummer in a southern Illinois Christian rock band called Broken Vessel, which sounds about right. The newspaper interviewed the band’s former singer and keyboard player, who says, “We played Christian pop covers from like the ’90s and 2000s, like from DC Talk and Newsboys,” and who lovingly describes the band as “the epitome of lame.” If you are not yet sick of Ken Bone-related content, the interview is a pretty fun read; check it out here.
