Phil Collins Announces 2017 Comeback Tour

Phil Collins is certainly Not Dead Yet because he can’t even stay retired. Despite “officially” retiring in 2002 he’s already come out of retirement for Genesis’ Turn It On Again tour in 2007, and announced plans to tour again late last year behind a reissue campaign. And although Collins stepped on stage a couple times this year — a short charity gig in March and a duet with Leslie Odom Jr. at the US Open this past summer — now he’s finally rolling out proper tour dates (his first since a 2005 farewell tour, not counting a Motown covers run in 2010) in support of his upcoming memoir.

The 65-year-old former Genesis frontman has announced the Not Dead Yet Live tour which consists of a five-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall in London before dates in Paris and Cologne. He probably won’t be performing drums because “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to play the way I used to,” but he has plenty of solo hits that earned him over 100 million record sales, seven Grammys, six Brit awards, and even an Oscar. Collins told The Guardian that the show is going to be “a romp through my songs that people love.” His band will include his son Nicholas on drums, Leland Sklar on bass, Daryl Stuermer on guitar, and Brad Cole on keyboards. Jools Holland sat down with Collins to interview him about the tour at the Royal Albert Hall where it will kick off. Watch below.
