Google just launched their new Pixel smartphone, and, of course, the launch of any product comes with lots of ads. Ads often come with music, and in the case of Google Pixel, they come with some pretty good music! One commercial is soundtracked by Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side,” another by Django Django’s “Default,” and a third by “You You You You You,” a song from Stephin Merritt’s non-Magnetic Fields project the 6ths. Fun fact: the 6ths’ “You You You You You” is sung by Katharine Whalen of Squirrel Nut Zippers fame. It all comes back to the late-’90s swing revival!
