Melvins – “Carol Of The Bells” & Los Campesinos! – “When Christmas Comes (Boxing Day Version)”

Amazon is bringing back its Indie For The Holidays playlist this season, with a new round of Christmas classics reimagined by underground stars. This year’s playlist goes live tomorrow, but we’ve got a couple previews today by two very different bands.

First up are heavy-hitting Pac-NW veterans Melvins, who’ve delivered their version of arguably the spookiest Christmas song, “Carol Of The Bells.” Explains King Buzzo, “The song has scared us since we were children, that’s why we wanted to do it.” Hear it below.

Also premiering today is “When Christmas Comes (Boxing Day Version)” by Los Campesinos! You may or may not be surprised to learn that Gareth David is highly sentimental regarding the holidays, as he detailed via email:

I’m someone who has absolutely zero scepticism towards Christmas, I wouldn’t complain if people started putting their decorations up in August. Christmas is a vacuum I could happily live inside the whole of the year, where my malaise is buried under 6 feet of metaphorical snow. This song is about that time being even better when you get to share it with someone else.

Hear it below.
