Jake Xerxes Fussell – “Have You Ever Seen Peaches Growing On A Sweet Potato Vine?” (Jimmy Lee Williams Cover)

Folk songwriter Jake Xerves Fussell is following up on his William Tyler-produced self-titled debut from 2014 this spring with What In The Natural World. The nine-track LP is preceded by Fussell’s rustling Jimmy Lee Williams cover “Have You Ever Seen Peaches Growing on a Sweet Potato Vine?” Over a gracefully buoyant six minutes, Fussell’s meditative guitar picking cycles alongside his winking delivery of the titular question. It’s a supremely pleasant reinterpretation, simultaneously weightless and significant. Listen below.
