Solange Gives Keynote At Yale Conference, Inspires Wake Forest Course Syllabus

Solange Knowles was the keynote speaker at a Yale University conference called “Everybody Still Wants To Fly”: Activism In Pop From Prince To Solange. Solange sat down with Yale professor Daphne A. Brooks to talk about the creation and context of her new album, A Seat At The Table. You can listen to the wide-ranging, hour-plus interview below.

In other academia-minded Solange news, a new website has been set up by a group of faculty and students at Wake Forest University to create a syllabus made up of “texts, music, and visual art” that speak to young women of color ages 16-30. The syllabus was inspired by A Seat At The Table, and submissions can be sent here until 1/31.
