Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

This week your Stereogum editorial team moved into Billboard’s offices in midtown. We got free tacos. Incubus stopped by. Michael’s team won $2500 in a music trivia contest. (My team got a question about Green Day wrong.) And yet the world continues to crumble. Your increasingly political best and worst comments countdown is below.

It’ll be cool in a few years when the Knowles-Carters are out shopping for groceries and Beyoncé unloads the kids from the car seats and needs the kids to follow Jay to go get a buggy, she can then say “Ok babies now let’s get in formation.”

Ugh. After everything else, I didn’t think it was possible, but she finally did it. Azealia Banks’ inherent malignant awfulness has ruined “212” for me.
RIP enjoying the shit out of “212” every time I heard it (2012-2017).

There’s no room for Jesus Christ in America anymore, since as a non-Christian from the Middle East, he would be banned from coming here

Donated.
Our country has a long and storied history of doing fucked up shit. But that thing that’s so malevolent about this isn’t that State, Homeland Security, or the Department of Justice wasn’t consulted before the Order was issued. It isn’t that employees on the ground were left to figure out the ramifications of the order itself. It isn’t that, judging by the list of blacklisted countries, the President isn’t willing to do anything that could affect his business relations. What’s most fucked about this is that he issued this order with little warning and it went into effect immediately.
You might have heard about the 77 year old mother who hadn’t seen her son in 7 years who was in the air when Trump signed the order and has been deported. Or the Clemson professor who has lived here for seven years and was refused entry after returning home from visiting relatives in Iran. Or the Iraqi who worked for the US in Iraq for a decade, who, after a time living in Sweden was given permission to reunite with his family in the US, only to be deported to Iraq, where he’s not safe, upon trying to legally enter the country. Or the permanent residents with green-cards who were handcuffed, had their social media updates searched and were questioned about their opinions of Trump. Those stories are upsetting enough. But think about this: 90% of those scenarios could have been avoided. These fucks we have running this country WANTED these stories. They think it makes them look tough and American.
Our previous national shames, like the Fugitive Slave Act or Japanese Internment, have mostly been the result of well-intioned people who made terrible compromises in difficult circumstances. That’s not an excuse and not meant to lessen our horror at them. But this is just unnecessary, ineffective, poorly thought posturing making a nod towards fulfillment of racist campaign rhetoric.

Hold the fuck up… so Pharrell just announced his wife had triplets and now Beyonce saying she’s having twins. Each already has one kid so now altogether they have 7. Kanye and Kim got two kids and if they announce she’s pregnant with twins that makes the total number of hip hop babies 11. Now if my math is correct each will have around 4 kids (Beyonce’s 3 plus Jay’s son/weed carrier Memphis Bleek makes it 4). 4 is the number after 3 and the potential number of rap babies is 11. 3-11 you guys. Crazy shit..
