George Michael was only 53 when he passed away last year, and there were lots of rumors about what might’ve killed him. (Specifically, there was a lot of speculation about drug use contributing to his death.) But as CBS News reports, Michael died because of completely natural causes. According to a UK coroner’s report, “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.” In other words, his heart was both swollen and unable to pump enough blood. A previous autopsy had come back inconclusive. There will be no inquest into Michael’s death.
