Craig Finn – “God In Chicago” Video

Later this month, Craig Finn, frontman of the Hold Steady, will release his new solo album We All Want The Same Things, and we’ve already posted first single “Preludes.” As it turns out, the album gets its title from a line on the new song “God In Chicago.” It’s a sort of plangent piano-ballad, and it features Finn in full spoken-word storytelling mode, weaving a tale of a road trip across the Midwest, one that starts out because of some illicit business but ends with a real personal connection. Director Kris Merc takes that story and uses it as the basis for a sort of mini-indie film, putting all the details of the song into concrete imagery. It’s a quietly moving piece of work, and you can check it out below, via Nowness.

We All Want The Same Things is out 3/24 on Partisan.
