Counterpoint: it didn’t sound good on paper either

I became a dad this past weekend. My wife gave birth to a very healthy baby girl. Baby Beans. Most of the cliches hold up pretty well. My world changed when she was born. Nothing matters now except for my family. I’m just happy she is healthy. Time just slips away when I am holding her. My baby is the cutest baby, cuter than all the others combined.

I am searching for the word, though, to express my simultaneous pride and embarrassment at maintaining opinions about new music throughout my first week as a father. Should I even have an opinion about the new Mac Demarco (his most refined yet)? Should I care that Miley Cyrus played herself, again? Should I be surprised the new LCD Soundsystem doesn’t hit the way I had thought it might? As a father, should I even find that poor Pikachu getting dragged off the stage funny? I need help with this, everybody.

The new Grizzly Bear song is amazing, really blew me away.
The baby loves Sufjan, William Tyler, Julien Baker, and DAMN.
PWR BTTM is the show I am most bummed to be missing because of my new baby because their album is wicked damn good.

I highly recommend dadhood, after one week. Can’t speak to momhood, but my wife seems to deeply enjoy and cherish it.

I mean, to be fair, I never really understood the appeal of Kings of Leon for someone over the age of 14 either.

Can no indie artist write a banger ffs. I get mad at this site for covering awful shit like Future and Migos, but then these indie artist have five years and can’t write a fucking banger. Yep, it taught me to not get my heartbroken. I am teaching this to my girls.
Once a girl is a woman then she is mature enough to handle that situation.
A teenage girl is NOT able to just got back to being friends the next day.

Teen boys need to stick to their dirty gym socks if they think it is all about them in the first place and can’t be bothered with a girl “after”.
To a teenage girl, it feels like a part of her has left and gone with him.
An adult woman is emotionally mature enough to know better.
