Stream Cende #1 Hit Single

Cende’s debut album, #1 Hit Single, is filled with sunny but conflicted power-pop songs, ones that contrast the knotty emotional terrain of their lyrics with a more lighthearted disposition. Take “What I Want,” an early single that entangles Cameron Wisch’s strained wail with Greta Kline’s sweet harmonies as a way to exorcise past demons and find some sense of common ground and peace. Every song on the album — from “Bed” and “Don’t Want To” to the ones the band didn’t share in advance — is pulled between those two poles, and #1 Hit Single comes off as a quick-hit of adrenaline and agony. Listen to the whole thing below.
