Professional shit-stirrer Bill Maher stirred up a whole lot of shit the other day by using a racial slur live on-air. While interviewing Nebraska’s Republican Senator Ben Sasse on his HBO show Real Time on Friday night, Maher jokingly referred to himself as a “house nigger”:

HBO quickly denounced Maher’s actions, calling the remark “completely inexcusable and tasteless” and promising to remove it from subsequent airings of the show. Maher himself issued an apology yesterday, saying, “Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show. Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry.”

That didn’t stop people from condemning Maher and calling for his show to be cancelled, including Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson and Chance The Rapper, who tweeted “@HBO Do Not Air Another Episode Of Real Time With Bill Maher.”

But Killer Mike, who has appeared as a panelist on Maher’s show in the past, defended the comedian when asked on Twitter to give his opinion, saying that he believes in free speech and that the black community has more important issues to worry about. Naturally, this meant that Mike spent most of yesterday arguing with people on Twitter. Find his tweets below.
