The Emmy Awards nominations are out, and a number of notable musicians are up for awards. Jack White, T Bone Burnett, and their associates are up for the new category Outstanding Music Direction for their PBS miniseries American Epic. Common, Bilal, and Andra Day’s “Letter To The Free” from Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th is nominated for Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics, where it faces Chance The Rapper’s Run-D.M.C. parody from SNL plus songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. S U R V I V E’s Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein could win the Outstanding Original Main Title Music category for their Stranger Things theme.
