The KLF, the conceptual-prankster British dance duo, were as famous in the late ’80s and early ’90s for stunts like burning a million pounds of their money as they were for making hits — and in the late ’80s, they really were making hits. Earlier this year, a mysterious poster — one “discovered” by the manager of one of the two former KLF members — announced that there would be some sort of reunion this year. That reunion, it turns out, will include the publication of three books. The first of those book is a “novel” called 2023, and NPR reports that, at least in advance-copy form, it’s just a collection of “300 blank pages and a helpful note suggesting that we fill them ourselves.” And now NPR also reports that the duo really are reuniting, under their Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, and they’re about to throw a big even in Liverpool. It just won’t include any music.

The duo says that their 23-year “moratorium” will end 8/23 with the beginning of a three-day Liverpool event called Liverpool: Welcome To The Dark Ages. There will only be 400 tickets, and all of them will go to volunteers, with no red carpet or guest list or anything like that. The event will include some sort of presentation on why the duo burned a million pounds, a reading of the first chapter of 2023, something called “WHAT THE FUUK IS GOING ON?,” and a ritual called “THE RITES OF MuMufication.”

Here’s some crucial info from the event’s website:

There will only be 400 tickets available.

There are no guest lists.

There are no press passes.

Every one of the 400 ticket holders will be expected to be Volunteers.

WARNING: The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu in any of their various past, present or future guises will not be performing music.

And here’s the trailer for the event:

So yes, they’re still fucking with us.
