Way the hell back in 2011, we here at Stereogum devoted the first-ever installment of our since-discontinued Mixtape Of The Week column to Lost In Translation, the debut mixtape from Brooklyn rap hardhead Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire. EXquire also made the great posse-cut video for “The Last Huzzah” and briefly signed to Universal, even though his name was Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire. He’s been quiet lately, and in a 2014 interview, he seemed uncertain about how he wanted his career to continue. But he’s now come back with a new EP called Braniac, which splits the difference between ignorance and cerebral intensity. The new EP features production from the Alchemist, a guest appearance from Meyhem Lauren, and a bit where eXquire gets into an argument with his own brain.
