This is the corniest press release we’ve ever received…

The Monster is Loose! (Literally)
New Meat Loaf track “The Monster is Loose” finds it’s way to the public before its official release.

Some things are too big to be contained.

London, UK (May 22, 2006): An un-mastered song from Meat Loaf’s next chapter in the Bat Out Of Hell series began to appear on peer-to-peer file sharing sites last week, providing Meat Loaf fans around the world an unexpected first taste of Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose, the long-awaited third installment to rock music?s most successful series of all time. The escaped title track, “The Monster is Loose”, was co-written by Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe), John 5 (guitarist for Marilyn Manson) and Bat Out of Hell III producer, Desmond Child…

Said a Mercury Records, UK spokesperson, “We’re investigating the source of the leak from the studio, but once the “Monster is Loose”, you really can’t stuff it back in its cage.

Ugh. Yeah, I wonder who leaked that thing! Of course the song is so bad it is truly scary.

    Horrible.

Quite possibly the worst song ever.

  3. haha… fantastic! Meatloaf is so METAL!! “So outrageous…it breaks us!” I think Meatloaf’s been listening to some serious P.O.D. and staind. Way to go guys!

  4. dickvandyke  |   Posted on May 23rd, 2006

    Christ – that’s poor

  5. andrew  |   Posted on May 23rd, 2006

    wow, this is horrible.

50% of Loaf’s success was his voice, easily one of the best Tenor sounds in music outside of opera, maybe even period. The other 50% was Jim Steinman’s songwriting.

    This is half-assed.

  6. Wow, I was expecting to think this was good, or at least okay, because no one likes Meat Loaf. But oy, this isn’t good. At all. The second “movement” sounds like bad figure skating music.

Of course this blows — “hitmaker” Desmond Child (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Child) is involved! Wasn’t there a producer out there who wanted to help revamp Meat Loaf to be hip and ironic or something? I mean, Mr. Loaf’s acting career had led me to believe that he was, I dunno, hyper-aware or something. Not prey to Mr. Child’s evils. Euuuk!

This just makes me really sad, and I didn’t even get to the fact that the faux leak angle just makes it even more distressing.

Meat Load needs to learn a few things to make his songs sound better. Nu-metal isn’t one of them.

  8. Mike  |   Posted on May 24th, 2006

As far as I’m concerned,Desmond Child can never be forgiven for turning Aerosmith into the Alicia Silverstone Band.

  9. marc  |   Posted on May 25th, 2006

in the theme of trite rhyme this is as nasty as destiny’s child

  10. oh my god. This song makes me want to cry. Jesus. Bat out of Hell is one of the best albums of all time. What the F is this?!

  11. bacchant  |   Posted on May 26th, 2006

Sorry boys and girls, but I like it! It rocks hard enough and is sooooooooooo much better than most of the crap out there today. Like the man himself it’s big and over the top. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the tracks.

  12. ya dudes i am a huge huge meatloaf fan and i have been waiting forever for this new album..and ive heard The Monster Is Loose track that was leaked..several times…and i still dont like it lol..i hate new metal…and meat’s like rapping…i agree bring back steinman he knows how to compliment meat’s voice perfectly

  13. Remco Schoonenberg  |   Posted on May 26th, 2006

What the f*ck are you all talking about??? As Meat always says… DON’T YOU EVER STOP ROCKIN’, he sure doesn’t. I like the song very much and I can’t wait till the official release of the album.

    Meat Loaf, you’re the best!!!

How many college credits do you label interns get for posting bogus positive comments?

  16. KrissyLoaf  |   Posted on May 26th, 2006

its not a horrible song..its just not what i was expecting at all..its not anything like ive ever heard him do and its not really my preference in music..im sure the rest of the album is great…i love meat but on every album theres always a few songs im not sure about..o well we’ll see what happens Oct 31st

  17. It is different for meatloaf….not what his fan base was expecting or wanting. Hope the remaining songs are not like this… not a good sign that this is the cover track for the album

  18. Mike  |   Posted on May 29th, 2006

Well I thought it was unusual but good. Suppose his music had to evolve with the times… I fear the time of Bat out of Hell and Heaven can Wait is over. All in all though it’s really good song. You only need to listen to have the shit out today to relise that.

  19. I just got done listening to “the monster is loose” and I agree- it is not what I was expecting. I definately think he needs to use his voice more and the rapping and heavy metal less. The jury is still out if this songs is good. Hopefully, the rest of the album will be better.

  20. Angel  |   Posted on Jul 18th, 2006

    The best sog ever!

  21. Clark W. Griswold  |   Posted on Jul 27th, 2006

This is different, but it will probably grow on me. I think Meat’s best song ever was the most recent album release of Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself. That song ROCKS!

  22. Fraggleshubby  |   Posted on Aug 3rd, 2006

Err.. Just a note of fact here. Sorry to all you colbert fans who find facts just get in the way of the truth. But here is a quote from http://www.meatloaf.net (Meatloafs official site in case you couldn’t figure it out) for those of you who said “bring back Jim Steinman”.

    Words and Music By:
    Jim Steinman

Sorry to burst your bubble. but apparently they did after he was only minimally involved on “Welcome to the neighborhood”

  23. jagerbomb  |   Posted on Aug 14th, 2006

ya you all are morons “bring back steinman” he wrote the song, do some research before you slam the song, also the voice thing is because the mans vocal chords are dieing. This song is amazing and true meat loaf fans would appriciate it.

  24. Nikoghos  |   Posted on Sep 3rd, 2006

I listened to this song the first time and I thought it was crap. then I had another listen and it grew on me. I’m a big fan of the first Bat out of Hell and I was expecting something different. But I guess it’s better than most music today.

  32. All i can say is, i hope the other songs are better than this, for meatloafs sake, and his fanbase.

  33. The song Bad for good was relesed by Jim Steinman on an old record called Bad for good. this LP has a few songs on it that have been relesed by Meat over the last 3 CD’s

  34. Mark  |   Posted on Sep 23rd, 2006

I heard the whole album, also (leaked on 9/19, I believe), and I like a lot of it. Some needs repeated listenings, but overall, it is definitely promising.

  35. I’m going to listen tonight……… really concerned now!
    Give you my opinion tomorrow!

  36. davidteh  |   Posted on Oct 27th, 2006

Loved the album… minus the title song. You can sure tell which songs were written by Steinman.

  37. nathan  |   Posted on Oct 29th, 2006

I like the song and the whole cd

  38. Robert  |   Posted on Oct 31st, 2006

have just obtain copy of booh3 here in Australia and this may not be up there with booh1, but hey give it time to grow on us. Like all new albums that are released, there is good and bad songs so everyone, pick the best and listen to the others from time to time. . As lone as Meatloaf puts albums out, no matter how good or how bad the songs are, It meatloaf giving us what we want, more ane more of his material. So keep listening and enjoying his work, or for those who dont like his work , this album is certainly not a deadringer of BOOH1 so climb aboard the nearest bike and when the rubber hits the road, dont bother trying to live by the Paradise of the Dash Board Light.

  42. Lyrethea  |   Posted on Nov 17th, 2006

I LIKE IT!! BIT HEAVY COMPARED TO OLD STUFF BUT THE YOUNG LISTENERS WILL REALLY ENJOY IT!

  43. The people at the top of this page don’t know what thier talking about and shouldn’t have bothered writing anything. I was not impressed by the monsters loose to start with but after hearing it a few times and veiwing it live I love it so much I created my own animated video and posted it on youtube then I made a sequal set to alive. This album is amazing.

  44. Evan  |   Posted on Mar 31st, 2007

I really don;t know what ppl were talkin about at the top here, but Monster is Loose is one of the best i have heard, that and Alive are sweet, best though was to hear and see it performed live in concert (ottawa, march 16/07) For an old guy, Meatloaf can still kick some major ass

  45. It’s about time. The Monster is Loose I think has woken up the collective soul of our current condition in society. A perfect metaphor for our current political structure. Or lack-of. Cities are inundated with moral and physical filth, and countryland is empty and abandoned due to soaring costs of living that no one can afford except the filthy rich. Oh yes the monster is loose, Hell’s Dragon is loose on the United States (now divided) and won’t stop until someone stands up and slays this horrible fiend that is desparately trying to end all life on earth as we know it.

  46. F#%k all of you haterz Meat Loaf Kicked ass in the seventies and still kicks Motherf#%king ass on this album. Yeah Bithces!!!!

  47. Matloaforever  |   Posted on Jun 24th, 2008
