He’s Final Fantasy no more, but Owen Pallett’s video for “Lewis Takes Off His Shirt” matches the song’s racing heartbeat with a chaotic clip full of costumes, role-playing, stage fighting, and OCD-esque object stacking and patterning. The M. Blash-directed clip was shot in Blash’s loft in New York, and it feels lovingly handmade and friend-made. According to Pallett, they finished the shoot in one (very busy, very fun) day. The video’s dancing pixie is Alison Pill, who was in Milk and is currently in The Miracle Worker on Broadway. Also: Owen takes off his shirt.

  1. I love Owen. If you peeps love this song then check out videos on YouTube for his performance at the Hillside Festival in Guelph. Literally one of the most memorable acts in my book.

  2. Agreed on Hillside. An amazing performance.

  3. Fun video, fantastic song. Did I spy Nico Muhly dancing around there, too?

  4. I don’t think this is going to be a popular thing to say, really, but honestly. That was an impossible mix of fabulously fucking stupid and really wickedly cool. What the hell?
