When Spoon gave Conan “Written In Reverse” folks bellyached a bit. But then, not so much when the band went and recorded a live video (under better sound conditions) for the track. Last night Britt Daniel & Co. took another dip in the Late Night pool, this time with David Letterman. They opted for Transference‘s tense, EP-owning rocker “Got Nuffin.” And how did “the fine young band from Austin, Texas” do? They got swagger.

Transference is out via Merge. There are some shows associated with the record.

  1. These guys force-fed me with love tonight. I’d call them the Loving Spoon[ful] but then I’d be forked up.

  2. That sounded really good. Listening to it makes me sad that they’re playing Chicago the same night as Miles Kurosky. But knowing that they’re playing the Aragon makes me happy, since they’ll sound about a thousand times worse at the Aragon than they sounded on Letterman.

  3. Hey, isn’t that Stephen Patterson from White Rabbits playing floor tom/tambourine/maracas?

  4. Awesome live version. The video started with closed captioning on – either someone fed it the words or that CC system is awesome, because it seemed to catch all Britt’s mumbles. (I would suggest it used the CBS captioning, but that’s usually awful.)

  5. Oh good, I’m seeing them next month and wasn’t sure how they would be live. Epic, it seems like.
