Q: Is there any kind of dress code?A: You can dress to impress, but keep in mind that it may be very hot that day. From our previous trips we found out that Disney will not allow capes or fishnet stocking, on guys, to be worn into the park. You can try to wear them in, but keep in mind that you may be asked to take them off and place them back in you car. One of the main reasons that there is a dress code is due to the fact that Disney does not want anyone from the regular visitors mistaken any of us as one of their characters or cast members.

So, Rhino does a Goth comp and this time someone cares? There have been countless hundreds of these things in the last fifteen years, much to the chagrin of not-Goth bands like Echo and the Bunnymen and the Jesus and Mary Chain(?). Cleopatra records pretty much exists solely to put out re-repackaged Goth comps.
There is only a couple of bum songs (Flesh for Lulu and the Cult are about as goth as a Beanie Baby. The Misfits? Don’t be ridiculous. AFI? Doing a Cure song, I assume? Why not just put the Cure song on it? And then get AFI in a fatal car wreck for good measure?) on this, though, so kudos to Rhino for the major label muscle.
But this whole thing is about 10 years too late to actually sell any copies, and none of these songs are exclusive to this boxset.
So, whats the point, Rhino? Everyone who cares about this genre already has all these songs on 12″ singles from back in the day.
I’ll probably buy it. I own zero goth tunes (except for the really non-goth songs such as the great Nick Cave “Weeping Song” and the like). I’m sure Wesley is right that there are dozens of other goth comps, but I’ve just never noticed. Frankly, if it hadn’t have been for loving the “Temple of Love” track used to great effect in the soundtrack of “Head On”, I probably would not have cared about or even noticed this Rhino comp.

I haven’t heard Kommunity FK since I was a teen (and yeah I still have the vinyl album). I think they just played a show near me recently, too. I probably wouldn’t buy this because like Wesley says, I lived it–but I know lots of younger kids who’d want it.
Great compilation; but yeah, I already own all the tracks there worth owning.

I recommend adding Christian Death’s “This Is Heresy” – one of the greatest EVER.

Could use some more of the pagan hidden reverse: Current 93, Death in June, etc. Although David Tibet is now a Jesus worshipper. Ahhh; the golden years, as Bowie says.
AFI being goth is really a stretch. I do like the Disney goth characters though.

Otherwise it’s a pretty good comp. Probably need more Peter Murphy. He was King of All Goths when I was in high school.
Rhino should have titled this box “Bela Lugosi’s Dead — But He Won’t Lie Down!!!”

Bats Day is the best people watching ON EARTH. There’s 1000 goths, tens of thousands of very confused tourists and about 30 of us who go just for the absurdity of it. Last year we even got in the HUGE group picture. I sat right up front in my custom made pink t-shirt with huge smiley face, puppy doghead baseball hat and paler-than-you legs. A few pics:
