I’ve been waiting for a hott new wave comeback. Will New Young Pony Club lead the way? The UK five-piece’s campy synth-rock recalls Human League and Tom Tom Club, and “The Get Go,” straight outta 1982, is the song I really dig. However, it’s their delicious video for “Ice Cream” that’s generating buzz. Watch it here. Their bassist is named Igor.

Speaking of new wave confections, has anyone dug up Kevin Shields’s remix of “I Want Candy” on the Marie Antoinette soundtrack? I’ve been searching forever.

what?? you want a “hot new wave comeback” ????

is this “comeback” sort of at the end of its run right now??

  3. Most of these current 80s-wannabe bands just make me want to hear the real deal. Metric is the only one I can listen to for extended periods.
