Dirty Projectors @ Walk Disney Concert Hall

Dirty Projectors stopped by Triple J’s Like A Version radio show in Australia today to do “Cannibal Resource” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Dark Eyes.” The latter is the stark, spacious closer to Dylan’s 1985 album Empire Burlesque, recorded with just acoustic guitar and harmonica, so it leaves a lot of room for Projectors Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian, and Haley Dekle to add their harmonies. Dirty Projectors just wrapped a tour of Australia and Japan, and will be back Stateside for the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville.

(Thanks for the tip, Rory)

  1. It’s a shame when a band gets so predictable in their acapella stylings that you almost expect the cover to sound exactly as it does. It’s alright. I think had I never heard any of their other songs I’d be much more impressed.

    • I totally disagree, after reading your comment I was expecting that they might have overdone it but this is a fairly simple and well done Dylan cover.

  2. …sounds good to me. Not sure they’re trying to impress, rather just doing a Dylan cover justice. They’re originals “Live” now some of that’s impressive.

  3. That was so pretty.

  4. Really nice. Kind of surprised me how nice. Esp. love the little thing in the guitar, the bass counterpoint to the melody.

  5. Your trolling is annoying.

    annoying annoying annoying

  6. I’m so torn about this band. The music is great, but have you seen their music video? I find it really hard to like bands that take themselves so seriously….hence my sudden dislike of Vampire Weekend.

  7. Where can I pick up one of those traveling cloaks?

  8. Is that the Dirty Projectors or a Os Mutantes tribute band?

    Nice Dylan cover though.
