Eight years passed between the release ofThrough The Devil Softly and Hope Sandoval’s first album with drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig, Bavarian Fruit Bread. You expect Sandoval to move at her own pace by now. The album’s first single, “Blanchard,” was out in August, but her album’s first video arrives nine months after its release date, and it’s just as hazy and unhurried as the song. Sandoval’s vocals live in a space somewhere between dreams and reality, so “Trouble” works as a series of layered dream images: Opening doors that lead to more doors, descending down stairs, over and over. Not the most dynamic or fast-paced video, but more than appropriate.
