Dr. Dog is from Philly, so you know at least one Fallon staff member is a fan. Their live “Stranger” was bright and harmony-filled, a nice contrast to the despondent lyrics (you’ll find that in a few places on Shame, Shame).

  1. These doods are very under-rated and I blame Pitchfork for that.

    • don’t know who’s to blame, but it’s hard to get too angry; the size of the venues they’ve been able to play have grown with every subsequent release. this might be the best band in the world. thank you, stereogum, for supporting them.

    • I agree. I also downvoted you by accident.

  2. Hidden due to low comment rating. Click here to see.

  3. I really do love this band, have all there albums so far and it looks like I’m gonna need to get this one too.

  4. normally they are fantastic live (i saw them with Architecture in Helsinki and New Buffalo back in ’05), but for some reason his voice doesn’t have the range in this clip it normally does on the studio works…i feel like he’s holding back or getting sick or something…just not the diversity he usually has…oh well the new album is good…speaking of new things, the new Sally Seltmanm (used to be New Buffalo) is gonna be excellent

    • he actually got in an accident last tour and really hurt his throat. Like, he couldn’t sing for a while and they had to cancel some shows. I think the story is his wife accidentally headbutted his throat. Anyways, he’s lucky to be singing at all.

  5. Brilliant band. I can’t wait to see them live next month.

  6. songs dont seem to be as solid as their previous stuff but their good none-the-less. Great live band though, no doubt about that.
