As far as visual treatments, shape-shifting BTW Cold Cave have given us Love Comes Close‘s “Life Magazine” as an excellently campy video starring Marti Domination and a cheerful RadioShack holiday ad. Sonically, it rests somewhere between the two. The original was sung by ex-Xiu Xiu member Caralee McElroy, who’s currently an ex-Cold Cave member, too. Fittingly then, her voice is basically non-existent outside a ghostly loop on this eerie Pantha Du Prince remix. Continuing the disappearance theme, another ex-Cold Caver Max G. Morton, who still runs Heartworm Press with band leader Wesley Eisold, appears on the single’s cover. Add it to the track’s image bank, too.

The “Life Magazine” 12″ is out 6/8 via Matador. It’ll also include remixes by Arthur Baker, Optimo, and in-band noisemaker Prurient.
