Collector” was sunny and swirling on its own, but this video takes it from sunny to totally blown out. Luke Temple and his bandmates turn into dark shapes, pale outlines, and soft-edged citrus colors as they play up close to the camera or dance and shake in a field. This muted, retro approach is pretty unexpected for a song this joyous, but it came out really well. This was directed by Nat Livingston Johnson who, according to this, used a really genius technique to get it to look like it was shot in 1984: he used a 1984 JVC Videomovie camera.

  1. This song is catchy, but overall I enjoy atmosphere created on self titled much more than on Pigeons.
