One of our favorite discoveries this year — and one of our bands to watch — Malajube are soon to be in NYC as part of the CMJ Marathon. We are beyond psyched. Yeah we’ve worn grooves into the stellar Trompe-L’oeil, but the band’s Montreal-conquering stage shows were what we heard about first. Pitchfork helped today by unearthing a group of clips from the Polaris Prize-nominated record, keeping us nice and ‘Jubed ’til their NYC debut. This is a versatile band — sometimes with monsters (see below), sometimes in an animated, bubblegum-pop world (as in the clips for “Pate Filo” and “Montreal -40ºC”) — and we’ll take ‘em any which way they want.

so great!
definitely catchy. definitely won’t be listening to them in 6 months time. probably a great band to shake your ass to at some venue, but i can’t find their fucking personality. that cd is all over the place.
La Langue de français est très musicale, n’est pas?
J’aime beaucoup toute la musique en français, parce-que j’adore la langue.
cool vid! great band ! viva montreal !
cool vid! great band ! viva montreal !
Now I understand why so much shitty American music (in addition to the good stuff) is so popular overseas: It’s sung in another language.
