The word from a reader is that last night’s Decemberists show at D.C.’s 9:30 Club was “incredible, unrelenting, and bombastic,” words that the band would undoubtedly meet with satisfied smiles. Stream it at NPR. And if you’re in town for CMJ and want a bloody mary, a taco, and some Meloy, head to Pianos for a free, semi-secret Colin show on Friday 11/3 at noon (Toronto’s Small Sins afterwards). Or, you could just stay at work and read blogs.

Eerie… how did you know what I do at work?
The setlist on Monday probably pleased the diehard fans more, but Sunday’s DC show was the better of the two at the 9:30. Sure, the band SOUNDED just as good both nights, but they and the crowd seemed to be having more fun the first night, and there was a better flow to the set.
How is this possible if they’re playing the SoHo Apple store @ 1pm the same day?
i had two tix but have to give them up
however, the funny thing is tickets for the decembersists in DC had a higher market value than for Wilco tickets on the day of the show.
the decemberists are HUGE here for some reason.
Hey Scott, is that Colin show only for Zune “ambassadors?”
Actualllllllllly… bombastic isn’t a positive adjective. People always get that wrong.
i have a ticket for both the secret machines and the decemberists on nov 3rd. which should i go to?
the DC show was really amazing! My friend went to the Monday night show and said she saw Carson Ellis….I don’t think she was there Sunday night!
