Last week we brought you video of Ugly Casanova performing “Here’s To Now” at the premiere of the adventurist surfing/climbing documentary 180° South. Here’s another new one from the soundtrack: It’s a gentle, rough back porch jam with banjo mandolin and trumpet backing up Isaac Brock’s spirited vocal. According to one of the filmmakers, the song was recorded in Brock’s attic/studio in Portland.
The 180° South soundtrack is out 6/22 via Brushfire. Watch the documentary trailer:

Long time reader, first time commenter… I created an account just to say, hey, that’s a mandolin, not a banjo.
You are right! Comment more often!
Wow. This is an impressively awful song. I mean, I liked Modest Mouse, and I love Americana, but Christ this is a bad song. Its not the poor production quality, that can be charming. It’s more the uninspired melody, sang quirkily to cover up for it, combined with the painfully boring and sub-par-even-for-an-amateur mando tediously tinkering between two tortured chords, and the trumpet part that was obviously conceived circa 5 minutes before recording. I’m sorry to “hate” and I rarely leave comments on these things (I think this is only the second comment I’ve ever written), but I signed up right now just to leave this one. As a mando player, and a trumpet player and a singer writing songs in this genre, I just felt it had to be said.
I would to hear your music since I am an appreciator of Americana also. Do you have a link to your music?
To be honest, I like it alot. I like its simplicity and in particular I like the beat. I will definitely be getting the soundtrack.
Only just found this due to a helpful friend! God, I’ve been waiting for a follow-up to Sharpen Your Teeth for sooo long. Still waiting to be able to afford this soundtrack! Just a shame it’s not the same line-up as the original U.C. but ah well. Great that I’ve got one freebie anyway, thanks!
