Jamie Lidell’s Lindsey Rome-directed video for “Telephone” features Jamie, a woman, and a telephone in front of a red theater curtain. Sounds simple, but you can do a lot with a scruffy, swaggering dude, a scantily clad woman carrying an “I wanna be your telephone” sign, and a basic old-school rotary. Lidell got heady/this is a pipe with it:

Exploring the libidinal economics of modern telecomms, “I Wanna Be Your Telephone” was always ripe for a tantalizing, uninhibited stream of images to accompany its naughty lyrical flow. Well, here it is! It’s a dance routine, a mini picture, an ascot, a homemade biscuit, a velvet drape, a hat, a pipe and a satin slip of a video … Relax in the knowledge that naughty is still real nice.
