When I posted about Tamaryn’s “Mild Confusion” this past October, I said the group “make like Siouxie Sioux singing over a heavily warped, all-consuming Dead Can Dance (or non-warped My Bloody Valentine) backing track” and noted — along with Wild Nothing, Glasser, and Bat For Lashes — 2009 went out on a Kate Bush push. (It continues in 2010.) All of the aforementioned fits “Sandstone,” a song from the New York-to-San Francisco group’s full-length debut The Waves. (Virginia Woolf reference? Would make sense.) Take a listen to “Sandstone.”
The Waves is out 9/14 via Mexican Summer.
