Phil Selway - Familial Album Art

Radiohead drummer Phil Selway will release his debut solo album, Familial in August. We previously heard “The Ties That Bind Us” and album closer “The Witching Hour,” and he also played some of the songs at a show in Portugal in April. There’s a stream of the album’s first single “By Some Miracle” on his website right now. Selway’s voice whispers about hiding guilt over a hushed acoustic guitar and a drum track that sounds like sheets being pulled over a bed. Have a listen here.

Speaking of Radiohead, Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood did a surprise set at Glastonbury last weekend. 24Bit found videos of the nine-song set, including these two below:

“Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”

“Karma Police”

As you can hear, “Karma Police” turned into a giant singalong. Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend played the main stage Friday night) grabbed some video of the audience singing with Yorke and Greenwood from backstage:

Radiohead’s members first met at the boys-only public school Abingdon, Oxfordshire in the mid-1980s. Thom Yorke and Colin Greenwood were both in the same year, while Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway were one year older and Jonny Greenwood was two years below his brother.

  1. 1. Phil has a really lovely voice. I like this a lot more than I was expecting to.

    2. Thom + hipster-band = Bjorn Yorke?

    3. You guys left out the best video of the set – acoustic (kind of) Idioteque! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RMdkEC4CKA
