Best Coast, Rostam & Kid Cudi

Converse just released the next in its series of unlikely collaborations — last summer it was Santigold, Julian Casablancas and Pharrell doing “My Drive Thru.” This year, it’s an explicit summer anthem — Bethany Cosentino sings “All year long / We wait for sun” between Kid Cudi’s verses, while Rostam Batmanglij contributes the melody and instrumentation.

Download at Converse.com. The site also has short, well-shot interviews with all three artists.

  1. Too bad about Cudi being involved. Otherwise, this might actually be a cool song. Am I the only that doesn’t understand what Kid Cudi is doing in music?

  2. Not bad. I like it. Not as great as “My Drive Thru”, but it has the power to grow.

  3. The player Stereogum has been using never seems to work for me. Instead of playing, a tiny bit of text pops up next to the song title saying: “Link failed, d’oh! 404?”

I’m in the US, on a Mac, with Firefox. Anyone else have this problem?

  4. Yeah i think it should have been Drake , nicki Minaj or Jay electronica, But hmm Minaj cant fool anyone into believing she wears converse

  5. Love all three of these, even though Cudi is a little full of himself.

  6. I heard this song and I still not sure who Kid Cudi is….Youtube, here I come.

  7. Cudi is just a dumbass pothead with a stoner flow and fancy sounds. I saw him live at Lolla, and it was wretched. All he kept saying: “Man, I’m so high.” “I smoke so much weed.” Plus, his lyrics are horrible.

  8. ok, so i could handle the kfc double down attack of stereogum, but this killer clown show being everywhere is really killing my motivation to go on the internet at all. because its fucking everywhere. and scary as shit. and the show doesnt look that funny. ok. i just had to say that. now to be more relevant, this is one of the coolest collaborations i could have ever thought of.

  9. This is a severe disappointment for me. I love Cudi and Rostam, but this song is just annoying.

  10. Love all three of these artists. I seriously can’t believe they’re all on one track. This just made my weekend.

  11. Here’s another great song that was recently featured in a commercial. “You Always Make Me Smile” by Kyle Andrews was used for a tv spot for the Holiday Inn. Download a remix here: http://www.redmusic.com/smile/

  12. @ amanda, did you say it should have been drake on the song instead of kid cudi? really??? dude needs to stick to the disney shows he belongs on. and nicki minaj?? jesus.

  13. This is awful. The one with Santogold, Julian Casblancas, and Pharrel was catchy, at least. This is just a mess.

  14. Wasn’t My Drive Thru from Summer ’08?

    • Yeah it definintely was…my iTunes it says i downloaded it July of ’08.
I love Rostam in general, but this song isn’t really doing anything for me. Nowhere close to being as good as My Drive Thru.

  15. kid cudi is one of the few thats keep it real..

  16. why can`t i find this video anywhere??? :O i want to watch it so bad :O
