Just last week we started salivating over the pending release of Andrew Bird’s Armchair Apocrypha, having been treated to nearly an entire set’s worth of the record’s cuts. And on first listen, we’re right impressed by Andrew’s direction. On “Placticities,” Andrew starts with familiar devices — stabs of pizzicato violin, his elastic voice, a quick hint of whistle — before bringing an electric guit to follow the hook’s melodic flourish.
