Real Estate Do Daytrotter 2010

Despite the fact they’re easily catchable around any of many Brooklyn listening rooms, I most recently enjoyed NJ BTW and Galaxie acolytes Real Estate at the Subterranean in Chicago, at a show serving as a de facto afterparty for night-last of the Pitchfork Music Festival. An unreleased and untitled song during that set, which is ID3 tagged here “Untitled,” hit hardest: the bass bringing Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” in shades, the guitar chords picked to the point of Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel” but glimmering like lazy day beachwave sunlight ala nearly all of Martin Courtney’s Real Estate languid axe work. It’s a fine blend, downloadable along with the George Costanza approved “Art Fandelay,” over at Daytrotter.

  1. I’ll take chill-gaze over chill-wave music any day. Btw, thanks for the heads up on these two new songs.

  2. so any word on the name of the untitled song?

  3. this is a great song, but a little slow on the pick up stereo gum. they’ve been playing it for awhile. heard it back in early march @ lincoln hall in chicago along with another unreleased song and….an ariel pink cover. RE is def one of the best bands out right now.
