19-year-old Ithaca-based music student/”witch house” purveyor Alec Koone says his pretty, haunting soundscapes are influenced by “feelings, vibes, souls, spirits, nature, essences.” Sounds overly broad and Hallmark, but once you listen, the list takes on an immediate specificity and emotional resonance, especially with titles like “Regret Making Mistakes.” The kid takes his time with this blown-out Eastern-tinted — aka “8-Bit Eastern” (via Jessica) — hymnal.

  1. This kid is great. However, I feel like this song doesn’t give the best impression of what he’s about. “See Birds” and “Heavy Living Things” are fantastic.
