The effervescent lead track from Baltimore indie pop outfit Page France‘s forthcoming record has the jangly, glockenspiel-tinged elements of Page past, though the band’s main songwriter Michael Nau will tell you it’s a different band this time out, more collaborative and democratic than in previous releases. Whatever the democracy dynamic, it works on “The Ruby Ring Man” — but as with Page France’s best, Nau’s thin-voiced melodies and wordplay are the real hook.
If you missed it, here’s the first single from the album, featuring fuzzier guitar and a little more tambourine.
…And The Family Telephone is out 5/8 on Suicide Squeeze.
