In the months since we’ve checked in with Aussie Band To Watch Dappled Cities Fly, they’ve apparently dropped the “Fly.” We wholeheartedly approve. So, the new look Dappled Cities are finally ready to try their hand with American audiences with three sets at SXSW and a summertime, States side release of their worthy, sophomore record Granddance. We figure buzz will build on these shores in the coming months, but getting Tim Goldsworthy to DFA-ify your first single is a good first step.

Hear the original and other Dappled cuts at MySpace.

Granddance sees US release 6/5 on Dangerbird.

They’re still Dappled Cities Fly, but it says Dappled Cities on the album cover for artwork purposes apparently.

  3. Yeah, officially they still have the Fly, but this has been confusing a TON of people.

Thanks a lot for the track. Hopefully they do well in the US later this year. Good kids they are!

  4. Ryan and Sean are right; the band still use the ‘Fly’, just not for artistic purposes for Granddance.

God I love this band. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to hear and fall in love with them. I’m pretty sure it will happen. I will miss them terribly but how could I possibly deny such a wonderful band what they wholeheartedly deserve? I will be so happy for them. And I don’t see the big deal about the band’s name – I’ve always liked it. Random, silly and different, but nice sounding. Just like them. Much love to my Dappleds.
