Kurt Cobain

Leland Cobain is the only member of the Cobain family that is willing to talk to Nirvana fans about his grandson. He lives in a trailer in Montesano, a couple hours outside of Aberdeen, and spends his days answering mail about Kurt Cobain, taking phone calls, and visiting with superfans making a pilgrimage to Cobain’s old haunts. There are sad details too, like the fact that he only began writing fans after his wife passed away, and that he hasn’t seen his great granddaughter Francis Bean since she was a toddler.

  2. Montesano is not a few hours outside Aberdeen – it’s probably 15 – 30 minutes tops (depending on which part of Aberdeen you’re in to start in and which part of Montesano you’re going to).

  3. Poor old fella must get hounded for all sorts of stuff he wouldn’t have known about.
