The Drums Cover Arcade Fire

Yesterday the Drums were referencing ’50s and ’60s girl groups in their “Down By The Water” video. Today they continue the nostalgia in a different vein via a live, ’80s-ready cover of Arcade Fire’s “We Used To Wait” (that made me think The Suburbs song should also be covered by the Cure).

The Suburbs is out now via Merge. The Drums is out digitally now and physically on 9/14 via Downtown.

  1. Jesus. Not a bad cover. Vocals are a bit patchy though!

  2. Good point about your idea of The Cure covering “The Suburbs”. You must have noticed The Drums cover is very “Cure-ish” as well. A slightly different sound for these Brooklyn boys.

  3. I love Arcade Fire and The Drums incredibly. But I feel like this cover has ruined the song for me.
The singers voice doesn’t sound as compassionate unlike Win’s voice.

  4. wow. they’ve managed to ruin that song…takes some real talent to fuck up a song that good…
