The Cass Bird & Molly Schiot-directed video for the Raveonettes’ cover of the Stone Roses’ 1989 debut opener “I Wanna Be Adored” starts with and returns to a pair of clunky green Doc Marten boots — a personal detail of the younger half of the clip’s odd couple, true, and this whole thing was put together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the punk-beloved shoe company, Dr. Martens. On the Raveonettes last album In And Out Of Control, Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo reminded me of Jesus & Mary Chain/Phil Spector/Magnetic Fields’ Distortion. Here, they go in a different, airier direction.

  1. Good job Raveonettes!

  2. Awesome cover.

  3. Pretty meh.
Might grow on me. Made me want to listen to the original again though, fantastic album, fantastic opener.

  4. I adore this video.

  5. Interesting cover. Is it too obvious to mention the video’s clear debt to Harold and Maude?

  6. I am in no way trying to be a bitch, but I’m surprised to learn this band still is making music.
