The Brit tabloids are eating this one up this morning: Daily Mirror reports that The Modfather was spotted guzzling beer, “determined to have a good time” at Royal Albert Hall this week, when he came across a framed photo of Sting’s performance in 2000 at the posh venue.
The 48-year-old spied the offending photo as he took his seat during the interval at Russell Brand’s Teenage Cancer Trust gig on Wednesday night.He marched straight to it, coughed up as much phlegm as he could muster and planted it plum in the middle of The Police frontman’s head.
And as he walked away, Weller then snarled: “F***ing t***!”
Apparently, this isn’t the first time The Jam man has spewed at Gordon, once telling a mag that Sting’s ?Not my cup of tea at all. Fucking rubbish. No edge, no attitude, no nothing.? He’s also on the record with slams at Bob Geldof and Freddie Mercury. (“He said he wanted to bring ballet to the working classes. What a c**t.”) Seems like Paul’s always wiping something from his mouth, eh?
Well, Weller will be performing at tonight’s Versus charity gig in Manchester. Wonder if he’ll deem that possible Stone Roses reunion gob worthy.
