This past CMJ Lissy Trullie opened for Lykke Li at V’s party and received raves for her live charisma (SPIN pegged her as one of the “Hottest New Bands Playing CMJ 2008″). She was thereafter voted one of Paper Magazine‘s beautiful people, and maybe because she has hair like Edie Sedgwick, she’s performing the Warhol Live opening at the De Young Museum in San Francisco at the end of the month. This is quite a fuss for someone who hasn’t yet released an album, true, but the NY-via-D.C. (she moved to NYC when she was 16) musician’s debut EP Self-Taught Learner is out in a couple weeks, so now you can listen (and judge) for yourself. We have the EP’s very catchy opening track “Boy Boy.”
The Self-Taught Learner EP is out 2/17 via American Myth. There’s more Trullie at MySpace. She’s on the road with the Virgins:
02/04 – Ann Arbor, MI @ Blind Pig #
02/05 – Toronto, ON @ El Mocambo #
02/06 – Montreal, QC @ Les Saints #
02/07 – Alllston, MA @ Great Scott #
02/11 – New York, NY @ The Mercury Lounge (Record Release Show)
02/20 – San Francisco, CA @ De Young Museum

This girl does not deserve attention.
I like that Self-Taught Learner track a lot. Might have to check out the show on wed.
Saw her last night in Madison, WI.
Her band was tight, but she didn’t seem particularly interesting in being there.
Man, I need to proofread. “…but she didn’t seem particularly *interested* in being there” is what this should have read. Nevertheless, I dig Boy Boy.
Feelin it…the show Wed is going to be a big one for sure…Lissy has steadily made her self into a genuine rock n rolla and these new tunes are the proof.
Venus Zine has a video interview with the band here: https://venuszine.com/clips/video/music/39/Backstage_with_Lissy_Trullie
