Don’t feel bad for Iha’s not getting a call from Corgan about the Smashing Pumpkins “reunion”; first of all, he’s everywhere at once (literally, you will see both him and Moby on every street corner of the LES on any given night), and he’s got that burgeoning remix career to tend to. Last time, we posted James’s knob-twiddling of the Postmarks’ “Goodbye.” That one fell short for a couple of reasons: the original’s damn near perfect, and the Postmarks sad-hued sun pop doesn’t have lateral space for Iha’s electro-overhauling remix conceit.

But Iha turned in something considerably more refined for Midnight Movies’ “Patient Eye,” from the band’s forthcoming release Lion The Girl. James appears to understand this cut better, embellishing the beat perfectly, upping the ante with swarthy slides and the odd electric shriek.

Midnight Movies’ Lion The Girl is out 4/24 on New Line Records.
