Robert Smith and compatriots have been making the Late Night rounds in support of 4:13 Dream for a couple months, delivering both Kimmel “Freakshow” and Leno “The Perfect Boy” in mid-December. (No love for Letterman.) After a bit of a pause, Carson Daly gets “Sleep When I’m Dead.” Sleep and death are two things I often associate with Carson Daly.
Would’ve been cool to see “Underneath The Stars.” Maybe we’ll catch it at Coachella.
4:13 Dream is out via Geffen.

i used to love the cure, but this is a horrible song.
leave the sleeping when dead to warren zevon.
i love the cure to death, but this is the only song i don’t like on the new album!
This is far from the worst song on that album. That honour would have to go to “Freakshow”. At least “Sleep When I’m Dead” has a cool bass line to almost redeem it. And as much as the rest of the song kind of stinks, at least the performance is tight.
I saw two or three of the late night performance, and I really don’t think enough people are being realistic. He looks horrible, man. Of course the makeup and style was always a cure staple, but I think he could perfectly get away with playing his age. No? I really thought the performances were good, but it was like watching a train wreck.
Warren Zevon did it best.
And somehow Bon jovi even did it better than the cure.
Stereogum brings us…. really crappy puns every time someone plays a late night talk show.
Robert Smith is fat.
now THERE’S an original sentiment.
Didn’t mean to hit so close to home, Fatty Mcfattyson.
Great song, great performance.
I think it’s safe to declare Morrissey “the stronger” of the two after seeing this.
Why does this feel like a shitty rehash of ‘Let’s Go To Bed’?
It’s probably the bass line. The thing is, this was a great performance, just a crappy song. Seriously, The Cure is so fucking tight it’s like they have a vice grip on their music, I like that.
Oh Wow, The Cure and Carson Daily in the same room. its like an orgy of irrelevance.
throw your mother in to light it up
