Superchunk

It’s the ’90s again, and for my bucks two cents, old-time favorites Superchunk and their new album Majesty Shredding are leading the charge most emphatically. Photographer Mehan Jayasuriya seconds that emotion, saying the band “had tons of energy” during their Friday night set at the 9:30 Club. He mentions Mac “spent most of the show bouncing around the stage like a ping pong ball,” meaning he’s acting like he’s always acted. Take a look at Mehan’s photos from D.C. and a couple live videos from last night’s Jimmy Fallon appearance if you need convincing. Mac & Co. brought “Digging For Something” star John Darnielle to Fallon for added muscle.

“Precision Auto” as a web-only exclusive:

Majesty Shredding is out via Merge. The 9:30 set’s streaming in full at NPR.

  1. I nominate “Precision Auto” for Late Night TV performance, Gummies 2010 (who cares it was web-only?).

    Because ROCK!

  2. Yeah I agree. “Precision Auto” was smoking. I guess they wanted to go with something new. Although several acts have performed older material on Fallon’s show pretty regularly.

  3. Agreed!! love the Precision Auto, BEST!!
