Various - The Land Of Ice And Snow: The Songs Of Led Zeppelin

Laura Veirs might not be the first person to come to mind when thinking about Led Zeppelin covers, but if you remember that Quit Your Day Job interview we did a few years ago, she certainly has chops. Her take on “The Ocean” comes from The Land of Ice And Snow: The Songs of Led Zeppelin, a double CD compilation that features dozens of other unlikely Robert Plant impersonations and the above Carson Ellis Houses Of The Holy-style cover art.

  1. That song was fucking awful. I registered to just to leave this comment. Please never let anyone desecrate good music like this again. Please.

  2. I… I thought it was pretty cool. I’m not sure why people have such a nasty outlook on covers. I think they’re fun, and usually lighthearted. And the artist probably loves the whoever they’re covering. It’s not like they’re attempting to take a dump on Zeppelin through cover sabotage. it’s just fun.

  3. I like Laura Veirs, but I’m not feeling this. Ruining one of the most epic rock guitar riffs of all time.

  4. …. I like it. hehe

  5. this sounds killer. loosen up hipsters.

  6. Nice take on the song. I’ve heard a handful of a few other tracks, and I’ll bite.

  7. This would be a good recording if you were choosing songs for a kids’ compilation…AND if you had never heard the original.
Zeppelin’s version is The Ocean, and this is sort of The Puddle.

  8. p.s. I do sort of like the glockenspiel (think that is what I am hearing)

  9. Excellent!
