M.I.A. – “The Message” Video

By brandon / September 27, 2010

My cohorts and much of the world may disagree, but I think /\/\/\Y/\‘s a good record. It opens with “The Message,” here recast as “FACEBOOKGOOGLEMYSPACEYOUTUBE,” in case you had trouble getting that message. The clip’s aesthetic follows the digital explosions of “Story To Be Told” and M.I.A.’s other digital preoccupations.

If you want to catch M.I.A. outside your computer, she plays Terminal 5 tonight. That show costs money. Making good on that longstanding promise for a free show at in NYC after the bad sound and weather at July’s Hard Fest, though, there’s also reportedly a free show at Brooklyn Bowl. No word on exactly when. Last week Arulpragasam tweeted: “The Brooklyn Bowl! confirmed for nyc free show! check ur emailzzzz…” My guess is the info will come out after tonight’s T5 show. Looking at the skies right now, and considering her battles with the elements over the summer/her announcement that she can’t control the weather, I’m glad both venues are indoors.
