My cohorts and much of the world may disagree, but I think /\/\/\Y/\’s a good record. It opens with “The Message,” here recast as “FACEBOOKGOOGLEMYSPACEYOUTUBE,” in case you had trouble getting that message. The clip’s aesthetic follows the digital explosions of “Story To Be Told” and M.I.A.’s other digital preoccupations.

If you want to catch M.I.A. outside your computer, she plays Terminal 5 tonight. That show costs money. Making good on that longstanding promise for a free show at in NYC after the bad sound and weather at July’s Hard Fest, though, there’s also reportedly a free show at Brooklyn Bowl. No word on exactly when. Last week Arulpragasam tweeted: “The Brooklyn Bowl! confirmed for nyc free show! check ur emailzzzz…” My guess is the info will come out after tonight’s T5 show. Looking at the skies right now, and considering her battles with the elements over the summer/her announcement that she can’t control the weather, I’m glad both venues are indoors.

  1. Is an album bad when you have to make a music video out of the Intro song?

  2. Dude, of course she doesn’t control the weather, the US government and HAARP control the weather. Who else would have such a vested interested in shutting her up?

  3. im in-between liking it and not…i think she’s just stating the obvious
