The bold block lettering says “army,” the words toppling over each other indicates the fragility. And the flock of seagulls is … DeLaughter having a laugh? Maybe. TVT releases The Fragile Army on June 19th. Check the entire record in a mashed-up übertune here, and pore over Polyphonic’s Photoshopping skills below. Don’t worry about their old robes; Björk’s brass section is putting ‘em to good use.

UPDATE: Thanks to our astute commenters , we’ve got the REAL cover after the jump, in all its Aquafresh glory. (This was the old.) Never has an army had such minty fresh breath.

The Fragile Army is out 6/19 on TVT.

The Polyphonic Spree Pack the BottleTree Stage
Just moments after I had posted my interview with Tim DeLaughter of the Polyphonic Spree last week, his publicist corrected me. "This is actually the band's second visit to Birmingham," he said. "They appeared at Workplay in 2003." So I ...
Polyphonic Spree in Birmingham well worth the wait
Birmingham’s Bottletree Cafe is the reason why musicians go on tour. At least, that’s the way it is for The Polyphonic Spree. “The Bottletree is actually responsible for us having this tour,” said lead singer Tim DeLaughter, who brought ...

This is actually not the album cover. If you check the TVT website, they replaced the brown background with red, white, and blue stripes and it looks a lot more appealing. The lettering still reminds me of WordArt though….

  4. The full-size version of the cover can be seen at Amazon.com!

  6. oyyy….the real album cover is very painful for my eyes…

  7. This album leaked, where is it???

  8. The TVT art department is the most untalented design hacks. All the proof I need is in their god-awful work on Guided by Voices Do the Collapse. This is an improvment believe me

    those letters are hideous

  11. This album art makes me sad that I even live in the same town as this band.
    Both versions were painfully disappointing…

wow, this sucks….I’m a graphic designer, who used to live in Dallas, and I’ve actually contacted the guys at Good Records before based on their terrible choice of font for their newsletters. but this…..

I guess if you look at their track record of album covers (including Tripping Daisy) there are only one or two decent ones in there…

  14. Steve Sanders  |   Posted on May 15th, 2007

    I like it!

The album leaked a few days ago. It is indeed awesome. Better than the last album and maybe better that The Beginning Stages Of…

Also, who the fuck cares what the cover looks like? It could be a picture of an asshole recently reamed by a horse cock and as long as the music was good I’d love it.

  17. hey where is the leak
i would love it if some one cool email me a website or the album bnewman16@gmail.com
